One remarkable thing is that full area of Sanctuary is kept litter free by park management. Lot of Information Boards are placed at various places inside, for the benefit of visitors. There is a small Souvenir shop near to entrance gate which is managed by Park Authority. The sanctuary has decent paid parking space near to its entrance gate. Telescope/Spotter-scope can be hired from private parties at Main Entrance Gate also. Though all Rickshaw Pullers and Guides carry Telescope/Spotter-scope for the benefit of patrons, however, it is advisable to carry one good pair of Telescope/Spotter-scope and plenty of water while touring inside the sanctuary. ![]() Their is small eating joint located inside the sanctuary, near the Mahadev Shrine and one near to DFO office. One can contact Mr Sohanlal on telephone no "Nine Seven Eight Five Six Two Seven One Nine Six". He is ex-employe of the Sanctuary who worked with famous Birdman of India, Dr Salim Ali. One of the oldest such Guide is Mr Sohanlal, whom we hired during our visit. Otherwise, it is walk in the wilderness for a common man. It is strongly recommend to hire Bird Guides from main gate to cherish this sanctuary. Though the Rickshaw pullers do double up as guide, to identify various species but they are mostly off-track in identifying bird species. Lot of Big Indian Reticulate Python can be found as sun-basking during winter months. ![]() Apart from various species of water and land dwelling Birds, one will see Indian tortoises of Soft-shell as well as hard shell variety in the wilderness. Even sighting of Siberian Crane after 2015 is non-existent. Like Demoiselle Crane (Kuranja) mostly go towards Phalodi ( Kinchan) or no Saras Crane roost here. Though it says that all migratory birds come to this place in winters however, off late various crane spices bypass this place and roost in other sites. Area is quite big, however, hired self pedaling cycle and Rickshaws are available to roam around the nesting sites of various birds. Both, the water dwelling as well as land dwelling diurnal/nocturnal spices, can be seen from close quarters during winter months. It has large pockets of low lying Marshy area where Local as well as Migratory Birds come in their breeding season. Keoladeo Gana Bird Sanctuary is named after God Keoldeo MahaDev Shrine, which is located inside the sanctuary. But ask him and he can tell you all about it. Unfortunately we missed out on this due to our phones not working so no communication. He set this up for all the birds and it was at least twice as powerful as our binoculars and was well worth it the extra. You can also hire a telescope at an extra 150 rupees per hour which we did. Not only birds but we also saw spotted deer, a python and turtles too. ![]() It’s a perfect level of infrastructure and nature to allow you to experience a huge array of birds at a peaceful leisurely pace. We had an excellent visit to Kiloados National Park.
